Mrs. Roy began working at CFCI in 2008 as the Curriculum Coordinator before moving into the Director’s position in Spring 2012. Prior to that time she worked at South Brunswick Middle School where she served as a Curriculum Specialist and Algebra 1 teacher. Before that, Mrs. Roy taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math at Leland Middle School . Mrs. Roy received her Master’s Degree in School Administration and Curriculum & Instruction from East Carolina University and her Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in Middle Grades Education. She is a National Board Certified teacher and has her Academically and Intelligently Gifted Certification. She is thrilled to be working with teachers and students at CFCI!!!
Mrs. Roy loves spending time with her husband Jason and daughters, Delaney and Olivia as well as family and friends both here and in southwest Virginia. During her free time, she loves to read, play volleyball, and go to the beach with the family. She also enjoys spending time with her furbaby, Buster.
Alan McNaughton- firstname.lastname@example.org – Coordinator of Student Services
Mr. McNaughton is a new addition to Cape Fear Center For Inquiry this year. He comes to us from New Hanover County Schools were he has been an assistant principal for the last 6 years at Hoggard high school, Myrtle Grove middle school and Holly Shelter middle school. His teaching experience includes high school English 1-4 as well as special education. He received his undergrad from Liberty University, his Master’s from UNC-Pembroke and is currently pursuing his doctorate from UNCW.
Kathy Coke- email@example.com – Business Operations Coordinator
Kathy Rettig joined the new CFCI Administrative team as Business Operations Coordinator in July 2008.Born in Boulder Colorado, Kathy holds degrees in Accounting and Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona. Kathy’s previous professional experiences include technical support for Intuit, Accountant and Business Office Supervisor for the University of Arizona Press, and Account Analyst with Georgetown University Medical Center.
Kathy has spent the past nine years raising her three children and, most recently, participating in the region’s schools. She is very excited to find a position in a school where she can utilize her previous experiences in a mission she strongly believes in.

Michael has been an educator his entire adult life. He has served as teacher, principal, staff administrator and most recently worked as a substitute at CFCI. He enjoys working to provide opportunities for students to develop to their fullest potentials. His interests also include tennis, golf and travel.
