CFCI Alumni: Where are they now? Sidney and Lindsey Ward

Sidney Ward was in the first class to complete 9 years at CFCI and finished 8th grade in 2009.  She graduated from New Hanover High School in 2013 and is now a sophomore at Appalachian State University where she is majoring in Computer Information Systems.  Sidney’s favorite teacher at CFCI was Ms. Kachadurian (Ms. K.)!  She looked up to Ms. K as a teacher, but also as a friend. Sidney is still in contact with many friends from CFCI, she will sometimes visit them in college and when she comes home for holidays and breaks. Sidney really feels that CFCI helped her learn how to work in groups in high school and college as well as learn how to speak in front of people.  She acknowledges that starting public speaking in kindergarten makes a BIG difference!  Sidney’s advice to current students is to always work hard and stay involved.

Lindsey Ward finished up at CFCI in 2012 and is now a junior at New Hanover High School.  Her big interests include music and band.  She is part of the NHHS Marching band, Jazz band, Concert band, and a Steel Drum band.  Her love for music and the band community are very strong!  She has played in community events including: Special Olympics, the Azalea Festival, Thalian Hall, Corning, Quintiles Marathon, Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure, and many more. Lindsey has been in A and AB honor role every year in high school.  She is considering a major in engineering at N.C. State. Lindseys favorite teacher(s) were Mrs. Wright and Mrs. Moore who both introduced her to music. She still sees a lot of her old friends, as many are in band with her at New Hanover High School. CFCI helped Lindsey think for herself and not care so much about what others think. Her big advice for CFCI students and students heading into high school is to get involved in after school programs and clubs.
