Seffie Ovacz |7th & 8th Grade Social Studies| email

Seffie Ovacz, a New Jersey native, studied Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies at Rutgers University, where her father was also a professor and the first game of college football ever was played in 1869 between Rutgers and Princeton. She graduated Cum Laude from Rutgers in 2001 as a member of Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society. From there she went on to graduate school in Nashville, TN at Vanderbilt University and finished her Masters in Political Science in New York at Binghamton University (SUNY Binghamton).

Looking for warmer weather, she and her husband moved to Wilmington in 2004 where Seffie quickly added teaching licenses in Language Arts and Social Studies to her list of accomplishments. She joins the CFCI team after spending five years teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade social studies at Wilmington Academy of Arts and Sciences.

She and her husband have two dogs, Finnigan and Teal, and in 2009 their family was joined by their daughter, Bella. On weekends they can usually be found at the beach, in the pool, snuggled up watching movies, or cheering for the Rutgers football team.

Brandt Hart | 7th & 8th Grade Science | email

Brandt is a North Carolina native and has been happily tethered to the coastline for the last eight years. He earned a BS in Marine Biology and a Masters in middle grades science education, both from UNCW. After dabbling in kayak instruction, magazine writing, and veterinarian work, he’s pretty sure teaching is the most fun he’s had yet (less dog fur). If you can’t find him in the classroom, Brandt is usually in the ocean looking for waves or trying to convince his garden to give him vegetables.
