Mrs. Roy began working at CFCI in 2008 as the Curriculum Coordinator before moving into the Director’s position in Spring 2012. Prior to that time she worked at South Brunswick Middle School where she served as a Curriculum Specialist and Algebra 1 teacher. Before that, Mrs. Roy taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math at Leland Middle School . Mrs. Roy received her Master’s Degree in School Administration and Curriculum & Instruction from East Carolina University and her Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in Middle Grades Education. She is a National Board Certified teacher and has her Academically and Intelligently Gifted Certification. She is thrilled to be working with teachers and students at CFCI!!!

Mrs. Roy loves spending time with her husband Jason and daughters, Delaney and Olivia as well as family and friends both here and in southwest Virginia.  During her free time, she loves to read, play volleyball, and go to the beach with the family.  She also enjoys spending time with her furbaby, Buster.

Lori Benazzi-


Lori Benazzi has been in the educational field since 2003. She joined the CFCI family in 2008.  Since then she has taken on the roles of Regular Education Teacher, Special Education Teacher, and Behavior Specialist/Liaison.  In 2014, Lori joined the Administrative team as Exceptional Children’s Coordinator.  It has been an amazing experience working at Cape Fear Center for Inquiry and she is amazed daily at the dedication of her coworkers.

Lori grew up in Glen Cove, New York and relocated to Wilmington in 2008.  When she is not at CFCI she loves beach days with her daughter Gianna, traveling, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Kathy Coke-


Kathy Rettig joined the new CFCI Administrative team as Business Operations Coordinator in July 2008.Born in Boulder Colorado, Kathy holds degrees in Accounting and Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona. Kathy’s previous professional experiences include technical support for Intuit, Accountant and Business Office Supervisor for the University of Arizona Press, and Account Analyst with Georgetown University Medical Center.

Kathy has spent the past nine years raising her three children and, most recently, participating in the region’s schools. She is very excited to find a position in a school where she can utilize her previous experiences in a mission she strongly believes in.

Jennifer Solomon-


Jennifer Solomon has been working as a counselor, social worker and mediator for over 15 years. Jennifer is a Licensed Professional Counselor and holds a Master’s degree in Counseling from East Carolina University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Jennifer has worked in elementary, middle and high schools as well as private practice. Jennifer has spent much of her career working in the trauma field and is very excited to make the transition to Human Resources especially at CFCI which will allow her to be surrounded by the familiarity of school staff and children while embarking on a new endeavor.
