Turkey Trot: Student group photo

Last year we started Share Month during the Month of March.  Each grade level partnered with a local charity organization and a business to give back to the community through beach clean ups, food drives, collecting items for the homeless and so much more!  The month was such a success that we have decided to focus on this type of service learning school wide in the Fall and in the Spring.

This year, throughout the month of November, the CFCI community along with our community partners will be collecting items to send to those who need them.  From NOW until the week of November 17th, classes will be collecting.  Below explains more detail:

K-1 Loop:  Will be partnering with the Wilmington Police Department and NHRMC EMS and Critical Care Transport services to collect and create toiletry kits for the homeless.  (list of items coming soon!)

2-3 Loop:  Will partner with NHC Animal Shelter and C-Street Grill to collect used blankets, animal safe toys and pet food as well as make pet beds/blankets with donations from Wal-mart.

4-5 Loop:  Will partner with the Good Shepherd and hopefully NHHS to collect gloves, socks, scarves and hats (adult sizes– new or gently used) for the homeless.

Middle Grades:  Will partner with Operation Outreach and each classroom will adopt a soldier and fill boxes to send to them as well as cards to send to these soldiers and our CFCI community veterans!

Turkey Trot:  Everyone will participate in a canned food drive to benefit the Wilmington Food Bank!  Our neighbors at the Apostolic Tabernacle Church’s youth group are also going to participate in the canned food drive and join us for our Turkey Trot!
